Randall Heersink
Lead Vox, Guitar
Randy started playing guitar in high school before joining the Marine Corps. He started writing songs early on and dreamed of one day being in a rock band. After his military discharge he returned to Colorado and began playing in a local band. Once he teamed up with his brother Dave, and nephew Greg, they formed a band that played in Alamosa.
Dave Heersink
Bass, Backing Vox
Dave, Randall's brother, joined up with Randall after his own stint in the U. S. Army. They practiced together for a few years, forming a couple different bands before Greg was old enough to join in.
Greg Van Iwaarden
Lead Guitar, Backing Vox
Greg, the nephew of the Heersink brothers, was still in high school when his interest in music was sparked. He watched his uncles play in their bands, and when he was able to get his own guitar he would practice with them on Sundays. After he graduated, he joined the band and they played gigs around Alamosa until they moved to Phoenix.
Ken Elkind
Drummer
Ken grew up playing rock & roll, and also studied jazz. He obtained his first drum at age 8, and his first drum set at age 13. He's been playing for the last 50 years. While living in LA, Ken studied with the city's best teachers; Kay Carlson, & Buddy Rich's good friend & technical guru: Richard Wilson. Ken's musical idols include Buddy Rich and Neil Peart.

Buzzard Blues Band: The Story
How They Got Here
The Buzzard Blues Band is a power quartet based out of Phoenix, AZ. The members of the group, which combines blues with classic rock tones, are Randall Heersink (Randy), Dave Heersink, Greg Van Iwaarden, and Ken Elkind. Although they found the right timing to form a group in Colorado, they weren't getting a lot of opportunities so they packed up and moved to AZ. Their drummer at the time wouldn't move with them, so they went on a long and involved search to find a new drummer. Even going sans drummer for awhile and using an electronic drum machine. The band was not destined to be a trio though, and in May of 2016 they found their drummer, Ken. They now play in various venues throughout the Phoenix Metro area, as well as at fairs and other events.
